Cloning your application allows you to quickly create an exact copy of your existing app — including all its files, configurations, and settings.
This can be helpful if you want to test updates, move your app to another region, or simply keep a backup copy without affecting your live site.
This guide explains how to clone your application step by step on Cloudways Autonomous, especially for users who signed up after November 11, 2025.

Important Notes Before You Begin
Before cloning your app, please keep the following in mind:
Each plan supports one application only.
Every Autonomous plan includes hosting for a single app instance.
You can have multiple plans under the same account.
There’s no limit to how many plans (and therefore apps) you can create.
Adding a new app subscribes to a new plan.
Each additional app you clone or create will be billed as a separate plan.
You can clone your app in a different region.
This is useful if you want to host your cloned app closer to your target audience.
A plan subscription is required for cloning.
You must have (or create) a plan before cloning your existing application onto it.
Steps to Clone Your Application
Step #1 - Select the Plan:
Sign in to your Cloudways Autonomous account.
Go to your list of existing applications.
Click on the three dots (⋮) next to the application you want to clone.
Choose Clone Application from the dropdown options.
For instance, you have selected ‘Academy Hub’ application, now you need to choose a suitable plan to clone this application.
Tip: If you don’t see the Clone option, make sure you’re using an active Autonomous plan created after November 11, 2025.
Step #2 - Confirm the Region and App Name:
Select your desired region for the cloned application.
You can choose the same region or a different one, depending on where you want your app hosted.
Enter a new name for your cloned application.
This helps differentiate it from your original app.
Step #3 - Clone the Application:
Review the selected plan, region, and app name to ensure everything is correct.
Click Clone Application to start the process.
Once initiated, your new application will be deployed and available shortly.
Note: Cloning the app automatically subscribes you to a new plan. You’ll be billed according to the plan charges displayed during the cloning process.
Next Steps and Billing Information
The cloned app will appear on your Applications list once deployment is complete.
You can now manage it independently—edit, test, or make updates without impacting your original app.
Billing will continue as per the plan associated with the cloned application.
