How to Cancel Your Cloudways Account

Cloudways does not require long-term contracts. You can cancel your account at any time if your project has ended or you no longer need Cloudways managed hosting.

However, account cancellation is permanent, and certain steps must be completed before you proceed.

This ensures that your data is protected and that no unexpected charges appear on your final invoice.

Additionally, after deleting your servers and deactivating add-ons, it is strongly recommended to contact Cloudways Support to confirm that all related services have been unsubscribed and verify that no further billing will occur.

Before You Cancel Your Account (Important)

Before canceling your Cloudways account, make sure you complete the following actions:

  • Back up or migrate your data:
    Download a full backup of all your applications and databases. Once your account is canceled, data cannot be recovered.

  • Delete all active servers:
    Servers must be deleted before you can cancel your account.

  • Deactivate all add-ons:
    Any active add-ons must be removed to prevent additional charges.

  • Review your billing:
    Cloudways uses post-paid billing. You may receive a final invoice in the next billing cycle for usage until the date of cancellation.

Step #1 - Download a Backup of Your Application:

  1. Log in to the Cloudways Platform using your email address and password.

  2. Open the application you want to back up.

  3. Download a full application backup, including files and databases.

Step #2 - Delete All Server(s):

  1. From the top menu bar, click Servers.

  2. Select each active server.

  3. Choose Delete Server and follow the on-screen instructions.

  4. Select a reason for deletion when prompted.

All servers must be deleted before you can proceed with account cancellation.

Step #3 - Deactivate All Add-ons:

  1. From the top menu bar, open the Grid menu.

  2. Click Add-ons.

  3. For each active add-on, click Edit.

  4. Select Remove Subscription to deactivate it.

Make sure no add-ons remain active, as they can generate additional charges.

Step #4 - Cancel Your Cloudways Account:

  • From the top menu bar, click your Profile icon.

  • Select Account.

  • Scroll to the bottom of the page.

  • Carefully read all cancellation information.

  • Agree to the listed conditions.

  • Click Cancel My Account.

Once confirmed, your Cloudways account will be permanently closed.

Important Notes About Account Cancellation:

  • Account cancellation is irreversible.

  • All servers, applications, and data are permanently deleted due to GDPR and privacy compliance.

  • Canceled accounts cannot be restored.

  • To use Cloudways again, you must sign up with a new email address.
