With the transition to DigitalOcean’s new billing platform (go-live on April 1, 2026), Cloudways now provides an enhanced, structured wallet system that supports multiple payment methods, automated invoice handling, and transparent reporting.


Cloudways Wallet Currency

All transactions on Cloudways are now exclusively in USD, ensuring standardized billing for global customers. Any past invoices in other currencies may still be settled in the original currency, but all new transactions post-migration will be in USD.

Understanding Cloudways Dual-Wallet System

Cloudways uses two wallets to manage your account balance:

1. Credits Wallet

  • Purpose: Holds promotional credits (such as signup bonuses or referral rewards).

  • Auto-Usage: Applied first when settling invoices.

  • Validity: Promotional credits expire 1 year from the date they’re issued.

  • Notes: Only one promo code can be active at a time.

2. Funds Wallet

  • Purpose: Contains prepayments made via credit card or PayPal, and any refunds you receive.

  • Usage: If promotional credits are insufficient, the invoice remainder is paid from your Funds Wallet.

  • Payment Flexibility: You can now add multiple payment methods, including recurring PayPal payments and backup credit cards.

Total Wallet Balance

Your Total Balance is the sum of the Credits Wallet and Funds Wallet, giving you a clear view of your available financial resources.

How Wallets Work During Billing

  • Invoices are now generated on the 1st of every month.

  • The system automatically applies promotional credits first.

  • Any remaining balance is deducted from the Funds Wallet.

  • You can also partially pay invoices during the month (based on month-to-date estimates).

How to Manage Your Cloudways Wallets and Payments

Follow the steps below to pay your invoices using PayPal on the Cloudways Platform.

Go to the Cloudways Platform and sign in using your registered email address and password.

Step #1:

  • Go to billing by clicking on your profile icon at the top-right of the dashboard, then select Billing from the dropdown.

Step #2:

  • You’ll land on the Billing → Overview tab.

  • Click on the Credits & Discounts tab.

Step #3:

Under the Credits section, you’ll see your total available credits. These credits (such as promotional or referral rewards) are automatically applied to your next invoice.

  • If no credits are available, it will display as $0.00.

  • Check Any Active Discounts from the Discounts section. Like credits, discounts are automatically applied to eligible invoices.

  • To add funds or settle invoices, click the “Make a Payment” button on the top right. You can pay using your saved payment methods or add a new one.

Step #4 - Billing History:

  • On the right side of Overview, click Billing History.

  • Here, you can click on the three dots at the end of each transaction to access downloads.

  • You can download PDF or CSV for any billing transaction that you have made.

Customers who are still using Classical Interface should follow the steps mentioned below.

Step #1:

  • On your Cloudways dashboard, open the Account menu by going to the top-right corner and click on the user icon next to the search bar.

  • This will open a dropdown menu, click on ‘Account’.

Step #2:

  • On the left sidebar of the Account page, click on the “Billing” tab (just below “Account”).

Step #3:

  • You’ll see a message indicating that billing has been moved to the unified billing experience.

  • Now, click on the “GO TO BILLING” button to access the new billing interface.

From this point, you’ll be redirected to the Unified Billing Interface.
