How Can I Change My Billing Date?

Learn whether you can change your billing date on Cloudways and how prepaid funds help manage Pay-As-You-Go billing effectively.

At Cloudways, the billing cycle is fixed — it starts from the 1st of each month based on your account usage.

You cannot manually change your billing date.

However, you can manage your billing flexibility by prepaying your invoices through your Cloudways account. Prepaid funds will be automatically used to settle your upcoming invoices.

Understanding Billing and Prepayment

  • Cloudways generates invoices on the 1st day of every month, covering the previous month's usage.

  • You can add funds to your account using Credit Card or PayPal.

  • Added funds will be used automatically for your next invoices until the balance is consumed.

  • If prepaid funds are insufficient, the default saved payment method will be charged.

Note:

You can view your month-to-date usage and charges, including applied credits and discounts, from the Billing → Overview section.


What can You do instead?

While you can’t change the billing date, you can add funds in advance to better manage your payments.

Here’s how that helps:

  • You can add funds for up to 12 months based on your current usage

  • Future invoices will be automatically deducted from your available balance

  • This continues until the prepaid funds are fully used

To estimate how much to add, you can check your expected charges using the Real-time Billing feature in the platform.

This approach gives you more flexibility in managing payments, even though the billing cycle itself remains fixed.

How to Add Funds in the New Billing Interface

To add funds and manage prepayments, you can refer to the article “How Do I Add Funds to My Account?” or simply follow the quick steps outlined below.

  1. Log in to your Cloudways Platform.

  2. Click on your profile name at the top-right and select Billing.

  3. In the Billing area, open the Credits & Discounts tab.

  4. Click Make a Payment.

  5. Enter the amount you want to add under Add a Custom Amount.

  6. Choose your payment method (Credit Card or PayPal).

  7. Click Submit Payment to complete the transaction.

Once the funds are added, they will automatically apply to your next invoice.

Important Reminders

  • Adding funds is optional, but helps avoid payment failures.

  • Multiple payment methods are now supported — you can add and manage more than one credit/debit card.

  • Prepayments do not generate separate invoices but are applied as credits towards future billing.
